Cannon is now 7 months old, I thought I'd better update on that! He's really a wonderful dog. Of course, being a Standard Poodle, he's quite smart but besides that he is so loving and sensitive. He graduated from puppy kindergarten late last fall and also received his AKC Star Puppy award. Now he's in CGC and he is doing okay, he's one of the younger dogs in class, and really all he would like to do is play and bark! His favorite thing to do right now is go for rides in the Suburban! I usually do take him with us everywhere we go. I have NEVER had a dog that loves to do this so much! We're working towards him being a Therapy Dog, but I think we have a ways to go! (He's still young!)

That's great news, I don't doubt it for a second!
Believe it or not I've never hunted despite 23 years in the Army as an expert shot.
I might try to get myself and Buddy trained with the breeder down the street, they have a farm on the water, and the man is currently training his dog...
Its all a matter of the availability of time for me now, as I do volunteer Chaplaincy after my NDE in 2005.

You made my day telling me about Amos!
I also noticed his snow photo, we have 40" of snow here in Maryland, (still snowing) and Buddy absolutely loves it! They are a very hearty breed that for sure!

Comment by dayna on February 9, 2010 at 5:52pm: Beautiful Pup!!! My husband has hunted with Amos...he blew all the older highly trained dogs "out of the water" ('scuse the pun). Our friends were so impressed and we were soooo proud.

The movement is starting out west, and we here on the Eastern Shore are also hopeful to introduce this breed one again to hunters.

His name is Buddy he is black and white and has gotten himself house broken in just three weeks! It took him 3 days to use our dog door, and although he is full of energy ardors our cockier spaniel "Molly".
I have had and raised dogs before, but this dog seems to learn the fastest, and unlike our cockier; is not afraid to go outside in any weather.
What a breed! I even read they can be trained as guard dogs - of all things...

Comment by dayna on September 24, 2009 at 2:46pm: Cannon is such a gorgeous blue boy. We adopted Amos as an adult ( 2 years ). He had come from a wonderful Montana kennel, Shiloh Gardens. Through no fault of his, his family felt the need to re-home him, and we had just lost our beloved little sheltie, Sadie.
