Rusty's Summer, 2011

Rusty’s summer was fairly quiet and uneventful, which was a nice change.  Our temps were moderate this year and we were able to get out and do more activities than normal.  Rusty lost interest in swimming at the end of July; Dr. Macy says that this is fairly common for dogs to lose interest as the season progresses.  His remaining leg seems to tire more easily this year and he lets us know when he is tired and does not want to walk anymore.  With the cooler temps his energy level has…

Rusty's 18th Month Ampuversary, 3rd Birthday and 2011 Video

We have been busy and I have been off-line for a while; I wanted to give everyone an update on Rusty.  With the losses that some members have occurred it is nice to be able to share Rusty's success.

I have uploaded a new video of Rusty to Youtube: http://youtu.be/t4ol2gn1czk

He is doing more swimming & jumping this year which I focused on; I think two surfin' videos are…

Rusty continues to do well!

On our last visit with Dr. Macy, all test results were normal with the exception of the same liver enzymes which are still elevated! Dr. Macy does not think that it is necessary to pursue the causes of the elevated liver issues unless something changes. During the period of Rusty's digestive problems, Dr. Macy ran several tests on him including abdominal scans, which were normal. None of the tests identified any causes of his intestinal distress; Dr. Macy thinks that it is probably the result… Continue

Rusty's Update and the 25th will be his 15 month ampuversary!

We saw Dr. Macy last week and Rusty's liver enzymes are now within the upper limits of where they should be and his vomiting seems to be under control, which may have been from the elevated liver enzymes.  Rusty has developed severe diarrhea and is not responding to any of the meds; Dr. Macy was concerned that the cancer may have returned and wanted to send us to San Diego for ultrasound scans.  His office called…

Chuck,  Thanks so much for your comment and for sharing about Rusty.  So pleased to hear that Rusty is doing well.  It's inspiring to know that there is hope.  We haven't decided on our course of action yet.  I'm still researching and trying to understand.  So, your insight in your blog is appreciated.  I'm sure we're experiencing all the same emotions you've experienced.  It's just completely unfair.  Anyway, many thanks for making contact.  Will keep you updated.

Good Morning Chuck-------------just checking in to see how Rusty is doing and letting you know I am still praying and sending good thoughts. My boy Bailey had his left rear leg amputated also, and I am sure he is rooting for Rusty. Blessings.
