About Me:
I'm a survivor, a strong person. Despite almost continual abuse as a child, I became a career woman, and a single Mom. Despite alcoholism, and drug addition, I am now clean and sober for thirteen years. Everything I did in my earlier years I did despite the weight of my problems. At present I am medicated for my mental health problems of depression and anxiety. Life is better now although I am disabled, and ride an electric wheelchair to get around. I also have a wonderful companion. His name is Donovan, he's a boxer, a dog, that is! I wouldn't trade him for anything. Donovan is my best friend as well as my service dog.
What is one thing your dog does that reminds you to open your heart and love more deeply?
He loves me.

I got this on Facebook

My Donovan is just like this except that he doesn't slobber.

He is an aquarius so he's a little more than just like this.

The Surgery's Over

Donovan got a "Brave Patient Award" from the vets at Kensington Vet Hosp.!

The vet who did the surgery told me that he's the best boxer she's ever seen. She also said he did really well in surgery.

Donovan will be eating canned dog food for the next two weeks.  He got the two gingival flaps removed and sixteen teeth so he's got a really raw mouth.  He also has a bottle of pain meds so he's feeling no pain.

He was pretty out of it the night after the surgery and both of…

Donovan's Surgery

The surgery which was scheduled for Tuesday the 9th of August did not happen. Our ride never showed up nor did she call.

I have rescheduled the surgery for Friday the 19th of August.  This time I have rides with two of my friends.  One is dropping us off at the vet's.  The other is picking us up afterwards.

All prayers and positive thoughts appreciated.  If you did so on the 9th, don't worry prayers and positive thoughts don't spoil.

Donovan has Surgery

On Tuesday, August 9th Donovan will have dental surgery. Part of it is my fault for not brushing his teeth regularly. He will have a number of extractions. He also gets two flaps of overgrown gum removed.  Finally the vet will remove a small nodule from his stomach.  It's the nodule that's problematic.  It may be cancerous.  We're hoping not.  All prayers are appreciated.

hello my friend. Sorry it has been awhile. I am recovering emotionally from a very sad experience. My daughters boyfriend had a boarder collie named dodge. His mother went away and the dog died. He is young, he was alone and had no one to call so he called me. It was the saddest thing I think I have had to do in a very long time. Dodge was 14 years old. He must have had cancer because he actually bled out . No one knew he was sick. I even saw him the night before and he tried to herd my car. What a horrible thing for this kid to try and deal with alone. I was there and I know I helped, but there is nothing like having your own family there when things go wrong.
The mother was blaming him. She was saying things that truely hurt this boy and now I find out she had a feeling the dog was sick but left him to go on vacation. I am so angry with her, Her own guilt was put upon her son. What a selfish person.
forgive me for rambling. I knew you would know how I feel. thanks for listening.......

thats good..It was hot here 2 but the last few days it has been raining on and off. I mean...BAD storms. Lightening, thunder, hail, bad winds. Flash does not like thunder. the night before last he woke me up by licking my face. He was shaking...poor baby. I had to hold him through the storm. He fell asleep with his head on my shoulder.
