About Me:
I take in senior and senior disabled dogs...I don't believe it is right that a dog be tossed away after giving a family a lifetime of love and loyalty only to be stuck in a high kill shelter because they don't play like they did when they were young or because they have problems holding their urine or bowls...
What is one thing your dog does that reminds you to open your heart and love more deeply?
Loves me unconditionally..

What to Expect as Your Dog Ages

You aren't getting older, you're getting better – at least, that's what a lot of people tell themselves. The same goes for our dogs, but we can't ignore some of the changes that occur as the years advance. Every dog ages differently but there are some common changes that occur as the body gets older. Here is a list of the 20 most common things that develop in elderly pets.

# Loss of hearing. As dogs age, the nerve cells and hearing apparatus degenerates, resulting in a slow loss of… Continue

Would you leave your pet behind during a storm?

Would you leave your pet behind during a storm?

As you recall during Hurricane Katrina where 250,000 household pets were left stranded. Many pet owners refused to leave their animals behind and stayed home trying to weather the storm. How many of those people lost their lives because of this may never fully be known.

What have we learned from this? What is government and other groups doing to help us with our pets in case of a disaster?

Well, I have two pieces… Continue

I so agree with what you and your sanctuary are about .. I had always when I was in the US relocated , saved , found homes for pups and 1 to 2 year olds .. till Lulu ..she was a 12 year old toy poodle who's owner was ill with Alzheimer's and her daughter found Lulu and two pugs locked away starved .. she was on her way to put them down when I talked her out of them.. the pugs where fine after the normal feeds and checks ( skinny but fine )

Lulu was a ball of fleas and nasty stuff it took alot to bring her around ...but I did such a little lady and a firm Auntie to the pups that were crossing our path ...nipping their noses to keep them in line ... to make a long story short .. I would not be here today if that senior toy poodle had not come into my life ..
It was the night before thanks giving .. the slow cooking turkey over flowed and thr house was filling with smoke .. SHE was the only one to wake us .. my son and I and 6 puppies ,two other dogs ... Keep up the good work .. look forward to being your friend
