What is your dog's breed? (If you have more than one dog, please list a name followed by breed.)
48 SWM (never married) Live by myself on a 10 acre rural area that is great for a dog like Phread was.
What is one thing your dog does that reminds you to open your heart and love more deeply?
During our time together (12 yrs) he was always there when I had a bad day at work or if some other event caused me stress and strife. He would simply lay in front of me and offer his belly to be scratched and rubbed. To see him loping across the field when i came home always made me feel that life was good and pretty much couldn't get any better. He has been gone for a year and a half, but I am not sure about getting a new dog. Phread was a wonderful companion and I miss him dearly every day. The little things he did were what made him special and made me think there is more to life than working all day long. I will never have another dog like him. I know all dogs are special to everyone who owns one and to even think about a replacement is not a good thing. They all have their own personalities, but Phread just seemed to have something more that made him loved by many who came into contact with him. Since his death, I have been reluctant to get another dog as I will always compare him to Phread. I just am finding it hard to open up to another dog as I know in 15-20 years he will also pass away. I just had a very hard time with Phread and I just do not want to have it happen again.
