I got this on Facebook

My Donovan is just like this except that he doesn't slobber.

He is an aquarius so he's a little more than just like this.

The Surgery's Over

Donovan got a "Brave Patient Award" from the vets at Kensington Vet Hosp.!

The vet who did the surgery told me that he's the best boxer she's ever seen. She also said he did really well in surgery.

Donovan will be eating canned dog food for the next two weeks.  He got the two gingival flaps removed and sixteen teeth so he's got a really raw mouth.  He also has a bottle of pain meds so he's feeling no pain.

He was pretty out of it the night after the surgery and both of…

Donovan's Surgery

The surgery which was scheduled for Tuesday the 9th of August did not happen. Our ride never showed up nor did she call.

I have rescheduled the surgery for Friday the 19th of August.  This time I have rides with two of my friends.  One is dropping us off at the vet's.  The other is picking us up afterwards.

All prayers and positive thoughts appreciated.  If you did so on the 9th, don't worry prayers and positive thoughts don't spoil.

Donovan has Surgery

On Tuesday, August 9th Donovan will have dental surgery. Part of it is my fault for not brushing his teeth regularly. He will have a number of extractions. He also gets two flaps of overgrown gum removed.  Finally the vet will remove a small nodule from his stomach.  It's the nodule that's problematic.  It may be cancerous.  We're hoping not.  All prayers are appreciated.

Delayed Class

Easier said than done with enrolling and starting class.  I have to get a copy of my transcript from where I took the Spanish classes before so they will let me start in the second semester class.

I went online and requested a transcript.  I had to use my former name because I've been married and divorced since I took Spanish before.

I am a little perturbed about having to get the transcript.  It may mean that I will have to make summer 2011 my first class time.  I'm not…

Class Time

I finally did it.  I filled out an application to enroll at my local community college.  I am going to take all the Spanish courses they offer because I want to be fluent in Spanish.

I am going to the community college on Monday to sign up for the class I want to start in.  It is a four day a week class in the morning for a little more than an hour each day.

I ought to be able to still go to my noon meeting.  If not then I will go to four meetings on the weekend.  I will…

I'm back

I lost everything, my bank account, my television, my internet.  By lost I mean that I no longer had any of these things.  The only thing I did have was payments to everyone.  Well, I traded off.  I got my television and my internet back.  Instead of a bank account I got a Direct Express card so my social security would be automatically on the Direct Express card on the date I would have received my…

Coming Out the Other Side

I am back to no bank account after going through three banks. This time I overdrew my account massively, and could not cover my overdraft. I created the overdraft paying bills I could not afford to pay. Now all of them have to wait. Chase closed out my account and put it into collections. That's ok. I will pay off the account to the collection agency.

In October I will be paying the few bills I can with money orders. Money Tree will cash my checks. By the way, I owe them, too. I will… Continue

Putting the Dogs First

I went to my doctor the other day. She gave me holy hell. I haven't been eating a lot, because I've been spending all my money on dog food. I lost six pounds in a month. My doctor says I'm setting myself up for an infection. Well, I hope not.

Ziva continues to be a wonder. She's worth her weight in gold. I need to start training her more. She's ready and I'm procrastinating.

Donovan is still the best dog I ever had. I yelled at him tonight, and had to apologize. He went… Continue

Ziva - Field Trip

Ziva and I went on the September field trip with all the other dogs. I'd say the thing she learned most was to stick with me no matter what. She didn't do the "up" like the other dogs, but then she hasn't learned that command yet.

We went through Wal-Mart from front to back and side to side. Cyndy led we followed. Ziva didn't even try to sniff the dog food when we went through that aisle. I think Ziva's best thing was walking down to the Wal-Mart and back. We went through a lot of… Continue

The Adventures of Ziva!

Ziva is a mighty fine dog. She lets me know when she has to go out. She toilets outside 95% of the time. When she doesn't it's usually my fault.

We went to Ziva's first service dog training class this past Saturday. It meant that Ziva had to ride buses, something she had never done. She rode like a pro. After the first couple of buses, where I had to go on first, she went on first like she's supposed to do. Altogether we rode eight buses for a total of five hours. By the time we went… Continue

Ziva is Learning

It's only been a week, and Ziva already has the idea of toiletting outside. She doesn't want to. There are much more exciting things to do outside, like decimate my plants, lol. She does it though, because she's starting to realize that if she potties, she gets to play outside her crate.

Yep, she's a crate baby. Luckily I only have to have her in there a little bit. She is good enough about her going outside that I can let her out quite often. She's a friendly little thing and not… Continue

This is the only picture I have of Ziva right now. She is much cuter than the picture shows. It will be some time before I get other pictures. I am quite broke. (http://tinydragon10.com) Between Donovan's surgery, and now the new puppy, who luckily I can make payments on. Most breeders don't do that, but she knows my circumstances and agreed. I am up at two am writing this. Ziva woke me at one am tearing up old envelopes. Amazing how much noise… Continue

I have a puppy coming. She'll be here tomorrow afternoon. I am a little nervous about how Donovan will act. He should be neutral because it is a female puppy. I just don't know how he will be about sharing me. I am a little unprepared and nothing I can do about it. My wheel chair charger isn't working, and I can't charge up my wheel chair to get anywhere to get what I need. All it is, is a leash for the puppy. As it is Donovan and Ziva will have to share one leash until I can get to petsmart to… Continue

No Chocolate (Lab) for Me

After a long day of waiting and changing plans. I got the word that Sullivan, the six-month-old chocolate lab puppy did not pass the service dog temperament test. He was too timid and had no prey drive.

What do I do now? I wait for the next batches of puppies to be bred and born. The labradoodle will be bred again in November. That means February will be puppy time. Just in time for me to start classes, again, in March.

Right now I am sort of disappointed and dispirited. I… Continue

The Latest Puppy News

The chocolate lab on the left is most like what I might be getting. "My" puppy has a white spot on its chest. I get to see him on August first. Great preparations are being made to introduce the puppy to Donovan, who must

not be aggressive toward the puppy. Donovan has been somewhat more aggressive since Dazzler was in the picture. If Donovan is aggressive toward the puppy that will be the end of it. No puppy. Since I am getting a… Continue

No Donations Needed

I talked to the vet at the clinic where Donovan had his tumor removed. Chances of it spreading, or even coming back are slim. He doesn't need radiation, or anything else.

I am canceling the appointment with the oncologist.

Thank you all for your prayers and good thoughts. They're what made this possible.

Labradoodle, What labradoodle?

The latest update on the labradoodle puppies is that there aren't any. How did that happen? The mamma labradoodle reabsorbed them. Guess she wasn't ready to have puppies. Instead, I am probably getting a six-month-old labrador retriever. He is said to be a calm, laid back fellow and just right for me. All I know is that he will be almost the same age Donovan was when I got him. …

Donations Needed

Donovan needs to go to the oncologist. That's a cancer doctor for those unfamiliar with the term oncologist. It's expensive. The office visit alone is $120.75. One of the tests is $420, the other they won't tell me the price of.

I set up a web site for donations. The url is: http://tinydragon10.com/ I also set up a Pay Pal account to receive the donations I'm hoping the site brings in. Have a look, even if you don't donate, you can comment.
