Mary Kay and everyone, I strongly recommend you microchip your pet no matter what species. If the collar comes off or is removed your pet can be identified and you can be contacted.

Dogs are just about the greatest of God's creations. This is such a sweet story -thanks to Kathy. Dogs have such a love and loyalty for their families and this story proves that. Dog is surely God spelled backward.

What a wonderful story. Kathy is of course an Angel and this story is so typical of the love and faith our dogs have for us.
Many years ago I was in a car accident with my dog Ringo. The car skid on an icy highway and ended upside down, the rare window crushed and in some way Ringo managed to free himself and get out. When they got me out of the wreck, he was engaged in chasing off the cars that passed by. He didn´t stop until he saw me laying down by the side of the road, he then stopped and came to me as if to say "It´s okay I´ve chased them away"
Thank goodness both of us survived unhurt. He was really upset and did what he thought was best in that situation.
My very best wishes for the swift recovery of the family and that they will be re-united with their beloved dog soon.

Jan, either they let your dog out intentionally or didn't find her in the pound. In some metro areas like Denver, there are so many cities and rescue agencies that it is impossible to check every one.

The sad thing is that due to the economy some people will turn their pets out or give them up at shelters because they can't afford them. I think that is cruel and a horrible thing to do. Realtors have been known to find pets in repo houses. How horrible!

All of my dogs have come from shelters or given to be by someone who was no longer to keep them due to moving or Pit Bull ban. I micro-chipped my last 2 dogs so I can be located if we become separated. I recommend that everyone microchip their pet because a collar and come off.

What a blessing that Kathy found the dog and took him in and then proceeded to find out what happened to him. It was truly a miracle that he was reunited with his family and that they all survived the accident. Kathy is a godsend to take care of the dog until the family is able to get back on their feet. You can tell that Katy dearly loves animals. We adopted a stray last year that was 2 yrs. old, housebroken and neutered. I know he was well loved and I often wonder what happened to his owners. I only hope that he was not let go intentionally. We love our little shih-poo dearly.

Everyone wrote such wonderful things and I don't want to sound heartless but it kind of bothers me that the family couldn't find ANY place that would take their dog. The dog was completely loyal to them in exchange for what? I understand that the family suffered terribly but the dog was a family member. She's better off with Kathy, thank God for her!!
