Long time ago I choose not to have children,,, I had horses and one man was sufficiant to my happyness! Now older I have dogs, I am breeding chihuahua, healthy and gorgeous, I was and still am well known for this breed.
But I do not regret my firdt choice and I think not all the women need to mother to achieve a good life and to enjoy company of young ones that are well behave.... and that is the answer Do not make children if yoir are not 100% certain that will be capable of taking good care of them BETTER TAKE a dog or a horse and why not a man if you feel the need to have one!!
By the way i agree totaly with your friend Dr Jones and I cook food for all my dogs and also use ULTIMATE CANINE SUPPLEMENTif you want to see my dogs www.doggy.ch ! I am now only with chihuahua and ratier de Prague a real pleasure. Thank you for all your messages ! Liliane

I did both and as much as I love my son, accumulatively over the years my dogs have brought me more joy and less aggravation and expense. OK, there was the dog-eats-treasured-books incident and the used-to-be-nice-but-now-is-a-trashed-out-dogmobile car. And yes, my son has actually grown up and is now pretty decent and responsible. But if I could do it all over again I guess I wouldn't do it differently. The furniture can (and mostly has been) replaced, I got dog gates, and my kid and I get along fairly well now. I still have dogs, all rescued from difficult circumstances, and they bring me great happiness. My son does too (although not as often.) So I guess I am rich. (But I still buy lottery tickets.)

Get a dog! Kids are for the rich. The cost of raising a kid to age 28 (that is the age they are said to leave home due to the poor economy) runs way over $1 million. As I said you have to be rich to waste money on a kid. My daughter is a real dog. She is better behaved and more considerate than a kid. Dogs don't cost nearly as much. True vaccinations and vet bills can ad up but not nearly as much as other expenses for a kid.

I'm with Don Adams. I've had both, but far more dogs and cats have passed through this house, and with far less destruction and aggravation. I love my boys, but I'd never want to do that again. The dogs and cats I keep doing over and over, particularly since I do rescue. And not one of them has wrecked my car (though there are plenty of nose prints on the windows) or been arrested for doing something stupid.

Dogs can make some big messes, but kids have far greater potential for
aggravation ,destruction, and frustration. Kids become teenagers and put
themselves through the teenage/adolescent years;which sometimes last
beyond the thirty's. Dogs do not go to college for a year, party, and pass
no courses. I will go for the dogs ( and cats )...donpat

One day I came home and my couch was not quite that bad but it looked like it had snowed in my living room..In CA. at that...but I love Buddy all the same and he is a couple of years older than when he did that..He was smart tho and pulled out the filling where it was not to noticable..got to give in and get a new couch one of these days..But he is now smarter and wiser....( I hope.)

Neither my kids, nor my dogs have ever done anything like this, but then again, I am older and have failing memory....LOL but I totally think we should have both kids and dogs.
