I made some hard phone calls this morning. I called James' co-author, Kristine Chandler Madera, to tell her about the liquidation sale for How To Meditate with Your Dog. I also called my mother.

The calls were hard because I had to ask for their help. I could call it grovelling ;-) but that's a little dramatic. It's how I felt, though.

You see, we still have too many cartons of books sitting in that warehouse in Kansas City. We have to get them out of there. The distributor has ... well, let's just say that it's a long story and not a pretty one.

The bottom line is that I have to call all of my family and friends and ask them if they will buy a case of books - at a deep discount of 87% - to help us out.

That's the hard part. I really hate asking. But the really good part - and the reason I'm willing to do it - is that the book is AWESOME and it helps people and their dogs connect. Think about how many dogs are adopted from shelters and have trouble adjusting. What kind of gift would it be if that shelter had this book to give to the new owner?? Amazing!

So I'm asking you, too. If you love dogs (and I know you do or you wouldn't be here), would you please take a few moments today to touch in with your heart and see if you can help us out? The details are here.

My mother's first reaction was "I would love to help, but what would I do with 60 books?"

I said "Mom, if you want, I will find a local shelter in your area to send the books to. You don't even need to know where they're going. I'll figure it out for you. I can find dogs in need - believe me!"

So even if you don't know what to do with 60 books, yourself, keep in mind that Midpoint (our distributor who houses the books) can ship them ANYWHERE. To ANY shelter or rescue operation! And if you need me to find a good home for the books, I will do it!

The good news is that both Kristine and my mother picked up a case of books. So, yay! It just makes me sick to think that not only are we out the inventory, but that THOUSANDS OF DOGS will never teach their humans how to meditate!

If you have any questions whatsoever about the liquidation sale, don't hesitate to ask. You can post them here or email me directly at molly@mauimedia.net. I'd love to hear from you!

You can call Midpoint directly at 1-800-742-6139. If you want to help but don't know where to send the books, call me at 808-879-1177 and I will take your order and choose a shelter to send them to in your area.

I can't tell you how much I appreciate you reading this and checking in to see how you can help.

Aloha Molly
Bless your heart for trying to help James. As I read the comments below I find I am also in the same boat, a very limited income. I do hope someone can help you.
Best of luck to you

Molly, have you tried all of the PetSmart and PetCo stores in the U.S.? There might be an idea? I wish I could help. I'd love to have a copy myself. I'm just in a financial pickle myself now; single income with a grown daughter out of her job, getting married with a big ceremony. Then there's the 3 'fur kids'. I spent almost $100 on food, flea meds etc. yesterday. That is a chunk out of my check too. I was supposed to retire last year too. Right now, there is no way, and not looking hopeful for the immediate future either.... I will continue to remember you & James and the babies in my prayers.

I tried to send you an email Molly - but had a notification right away, that 'one of the recipients was rejected by the server !! I don't know whether that was my server or yours. Anyway, here's the gist of my email to you.

Dear Molly ~

While I would like to help you with the distribution of books - I have to say the cost to me would be out of the question at the moment. Living in Australia, the $126 per carton cost would expand out to a more pricey situation. Our $ value against the US greenback, while healthy a short while back, is back down to nearing 80c to the US$, which means it would be (I'm guessing) approx. $150+ ?? for a carton of books. Add to that the prohibitive cost of shipping and handling a largish carton to my Victoria, Australia address !! I shudder to think.

However, I do think the suggestions you have had from others - to donate the books to various outlets is a good idea. The loss of the income from the books surely could be written off as a deduction in your taxation return ? As the books would be donations, I would think this is another way you could get around this situation through tax deductions - providing of course you run a business that is registered as such. I am using the knowledge I have of our own tax set-ups, and from what I have gathered from others in the U.S. it is structured rather the same as ours.

Good luck with it all -
Sincerely,
Anne B.

I have to agree with Andy Whiteman. I think you should donate the books - don't let them be destroyed - donate them and who knows - you may get more followers to your site as well as to Drs. Jones & Dressler. A lot of dog owners are still very out of touch with what's out there and how much care for pets has changed and progressed.

I posted this to my FaceBook page. It seems like few are interested in 87% off. You might want to give them to an animal welfare group as a possible fund raiser or a library for a book sale. That would be a tax deduction to you.
