What is your dog's breed? (If you have more than one dog, please list a name followed by breed.)
Goldie: Golden Retriever/mix
About Me:
I am retired, but have an online Gift Shop, www.ashlandgifts.com. We moved from Michigan to Alabama in October of 2003. We recently built a new home on 20 acres in the country. We are surrounded by trees 360 degrees around the house. The house is on a hill in the middle of all of those trees! It is so nice to have the elbow room and privacy, that we didn't have living in the suburbs. I love animals. I have a female 3 year old Golden Retriever Mix, Goldie. I adopted her from Pell City Animal Shelter on Jan. 06, 2007. She is my soul-buddy. She follows me every where!! She is absolutely beautiful and so smart! She is also very friendly. I also have an 3 year old Siamese/Tabby named Samantha, Sam for short. She has blue eyes and is so beautiful! Sam was an 8 week old stray who wandered into our life on the 4th of July in 2006. We formally adopted her. Sam is kind of shy. She is unsure of strangers. Goldie and Sam are great friends. But, they can act like sisters and get into it with each other once in awhile, too. When Sam gets angry at Goldie, she chases her around. It is so funny to see a 10 pound cat chasing a 50 pound dog!! LOL!! Goldie is the alpha. She is great at catching Sam when she escapes to the outside. She knows that we need to keep Sam safe. Also, I love taking pictures of my girls!
What is one thing your dog does that reminds you to open your heart and love more deeply?
The look she gives me with her soulful eyes, when she puts her head in my lap. But then there are her actions and silly sounds that she makes when we come home from shopping. She wiggles and shakes all over with excitement! She makes a sound that I can't describe. It is so cute! She absolutely adores us and appreciates that we gave her such a nice and loving home, and good food to eat!

I know that wiggle! That's the same thing Maddie does when she's happy to see someone. And when she walks down the street, she swishes that butt back & forth with each step. So many people comment on her wiggle butt! I know exactly where Sterling Heights is as my brother-in-law used to work in Troy which as you know is close by. I will send my sister a link to join this site so she can share pics of Haley, my little golden "niece". She's a cutie and the littlest golden I've ever seen!

I used icons from the website itself to create my page, unfortunately I can't remember now where it started, it's been too long. You might want to email the site itself and I am sure they can walk you through it! Good luck and have a great day!

Karen, Goldie is such a sweet and beautiful dog! Sounds like you live in a wonderful area with lots of space for Goldie to run around and play in. Unfortunately, we are stuck in suburb living so my Maddie doesn't get as much play space as she would like . But you know golden's -- they never complain and are just happy to be with you. Sounds like Goldie has the golden wiggle too. Maddie's butt wiggles a mile a minute when she's happy and excited. My dream someday is to live in a house with lots of land and access to water so my multiple goldens can frolick and swim. They sure are wonderful dogs. And I think its awesome that you adopted Goldie from a shelter. I did try find a golden from a shelter when I was ready to get a dog but unfortunately there weren't any so I bought Maddie from a pet store. In a way I "rescued" her from the store because she was already past 12 weeks old and discounted in price to sell quick. She is my constant companion and soul mate for sure! Thanks for making me one of your friends and for sharing your story and pictures!

P.S. Where did you live in MI? My sister lives in Clarkston, which is north of Detroit. She has a golden too!

Hi Karin,
Rusty is 12 and very healthy. No arthritis, heart, oragn issues, he was very healthy. So I do feel bad he is leaving me so early, but then again I will remember him the most in his prime. He has never been arthritic or has had to deal with any pain.
So important to remember!

Bo has alot of stuffed animals, he keeps them very nice and sleeps with them. Bart always has a toy in him mouth when we go for walks or a ride in the car, he has to take a toy along too, Such funny things they do to make me smile. Your pix made me smile too.
