I think all of us who dearly love our animals have them as an emotional and support as best friends. For some reason I have found through my life I have made friends who have special animal bonds. I think it says a lot about a person. When I became disabled I got a little house rabbit for my birthday, I never even held a rabbit before. I became the medical coordinator for one of the largest rabbit rescues in the US, here in my town. Had housed up to 20 sick and pets at my house, animals that needed daily medical care. I am friends with at least 6 wild life network friends, and was going to take some animals in myself to help rescue, however I am just not healthy enough to take in any animals at this time. My husband is a true animal lover, I could not have married him if he was not. I can't see my life without pets. I just rescued a lost bird, it had passed but within days I had birdcages and little zebra finches and a canary. Sometimes my pets can understand me more than people, or at least I think they do. The way I was able to deal with my illness was having pets around to help give me purpose. I understand an emotional service animal! With all that I lost, my career, my lifestyle, becoming housebound, I had something special, my pets!
Thank you!
